About dialysis catheter Dialysis catheter is a device required to provide vascular access to dialysis equipment for carrying out dialysis. It is inserted into a vein in the groin (under the collarbone, or in the neck). This catheter has two separate tubes, one of which carries blood from a patient to the dialysis machine, and the other helps return blood to the body. This device can be used for both long-term and short-term access; however, it is not recommended for long-term access.
